• Actress / Accomplished Pianist (age 20 – 35)

Rocket Theatre is currently looking for a north west based actress / pianist for its next show which will be performed sporadically for at least the next 2 years. The production will be part of Rocket Theatre’s ‘Literally Anywhere’ series of shows, so as well as playing in theatres it will also be performed in private houses, golf clubs, churches, restaurants and hotels throughout the UK. Their most recent play, Oscar Wilde’s ‘Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime’ was the first of these shows to be presented in this way, with 30 performances in the past year and more expected in 2012 & 2013.

The next show will be a double bill of the operetta ‘Cox and Box’ by Burnand and Sullivan with ‘Sweethearts’ by W.S. Gilbert, essentially giving us a double bill of work by Gilbert (without Sullivan) and Sullivan (without Gilbert). The successful actress will play the part of Miss Jenny Northcott in ‘Sweethearts’ (in which the character plays herself in her 20s and then in her 50s). She must also be an exceptional pianist as she will play the piano for the operetta ‘Cox and Box’.

Any applicant must be able to make herself available for performances as they arise. It is, therefore, not suitable for anyone who anticipates touring in the next couple of years. Rehearsals can be completely flexible but are likely to begin in March 2012 and will be based in Sale, Greater Manchester. The pay will be £100 per performance regardless of its length (sometimes we may only perform one of the two plays). Any travel costs outside of Manchester and any overnight stays will also be covered. At present it seems unlikely that rehearsals will be paid, but funding is being sought for this so will depend on the success of the application.

Please email artistic director Martin Harris – martin@rockettheatre.co.uk – with a photo, CV and details of your circumstances and availability for the project to the end of 2013. Applications will be accepted until the end of January 2012.

  • General Casting

Any casting requirements will be advertised on this web page and through agents based in the North of England, as well as through Casting Call Pro, Arts Jobs and PANDA.

Please do not send your details unless a specific post is advertised to which you are suited. Unfortunately Rocket does not have the resources to keep actors details on file.

  • Stage Management

There are currently no vacancies. Any jobs will be advertised on this web page and through Stage Jobs Pro and Arts Jobs.

  • Co-productions

Rocket is interested in hearing from other companies or individuals about possible co-productions. Usually Rocket Theatre will expect to have some artistic input into any proposed project and is unlikely to be interested in simply ‘producing’ your work. Please email Martin in the first instance with any proposals.
