WEDDED / I LICKED A SLAG'S DEODORANT
by Jim Cartwright.
Two darkly comic plays, in which we find two very different relationships. The first sees the unlikely and bizarre bond between an unworldly mother’s boy and a street-hardened prostitute, whilst Wedded sees a couple going through a rocky patch in their marriage and trying to come to terms with their emotions. Cartwright is known for his gritty, yet funny and poetic style of writing and has received much critical acclaim for his work, which includes Road, Two, and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (also made into a film starring Jane Horrocks, Brenda Blethyn and Michael Caine). Rocket Theatre produced I Licked A Slag’s Deodorant back in 1998 and won a Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for the production. Click here for information about the previous run. Wedded was originally a T.V. play, starring Sean Bean and Lesley Sharpe. It has now been adapted for the stage and Rocket is proud to be able to bring it to audiences for the first time. Wedded had Anthony Bessick as The Man, Jo Marriott as The Woman and Susi Wrenshaw as The Girl.
‘Bleak, Hilarious and Filthy.’
The Times (about I Licked A Slag’s Deodorant) ‘It's a very funny, quite dirty and achingly sad play - it's pretty brilliant.’ Manchester Evening News (about I Licked A Slag’s Deodorant)
